The reviews for the Intex 1500 gph Above Ground Pool Replacement Filter Pump are mixed. Although the majority of the reviews were positive there were too many negative reviews to ignore. So we’re going to tell you both the good and bad that we found out about the Intex 1500 gph Pump.

Many of the reviewers are saying that the pump works great and that it is better than the one they replaced. A lot of the people reviewing this product were also happy that the pump has a timer on it so they do not have to manually turn it on and off. Several reviewers bought this pump because the pump that their pool came with was undersized and replacing the undersized pump with the Intex 1500 gph Pump worked out very well for them. A number of reviewers report being able to let the pump run for several days before they have to clean the filter.

Now for the not so great reviews — a number of people stated that this pump does not fit the older Intex pools despite the fact that it is recommended as a replacement pump for them. A number of reviewers also state that the Intex 1500 gph Pump is cheaply made and there were a number of people that were reporting a variety of problems. One person said that this pump worked great for two months and then the impeller disintegrated and Intex does not sell replacement impellers. Another reviewer stated that after only the second time using the pump the motor housing developed three stress cracks which allowed water to enter the electrical components. Another reviewer stated that their pump stopped working after just two weeks because moisture was building up in the switchbox.

Although there are a lot of good reviews for the Intex 1500 gph Above Ground Pool Replacement Filter Pump there were quite a few negative reviews as well. There was more than one person that said they had purchased a new pump each year (one person, two years in a row and another person purchased three pumps in three years). If you don’t mind paying a low price for what could be considered a disposable pump you can take your chances and just buy a new pump before the beginning of the swimming season each year but it would be our recommendation to find a higher quality pump that doesn’t have the potential for so many issues.
